Claire Cochran
Claire is originally from the Seattle-metroplex. She holds a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Comparative Sociology from the University of Puget Sound and a Master of Education with an emphasis in Reading and Writing from Southern Methodist University. Additionally, she is a Licensed Dyslexia Therapist (Texas), a Certified Academic Language Therapist, and holds an EC-6 Texas Teaching Certificate.
She has been trained in Orton-Gillingham programs, including Alphabetic Phonics, Multi-Sensory Teaching Approach, Reading Readiness (Neuhaus), and Take Flight. Additionally, she is trained in vocabulary and reading comprehension Metacognition (Neuhaus). She has ten years of professional experience specializing in individuals with learning disabilities.
While Claire is well qualified to aid individuals that have learning disabilities, what sets her apart is that she has dyslexia. She understands the struggles firsthand that come with learning disabilities and can connect with students on a personal level. While she does not want others to struggle in school as much as she did, she believes that many opportunities can come with having a learning disability.
Additionally, she works as an educational advocate to ensure your child is adequately served in the school system.
When she is not working, she enjoys cooking with her husband, Alex and playing with her son, Fulton.
